Submerged Exhibition Installation Progress

I’ve arrived in Rome for my Submerged exhibition! It feels so good to be back in such an exhilarating, beautiful and culture-filled city. I can’t help but be inspired! My newest collection for “Submerged”, opening at Dorothy Circus Gallery on the 31st, is being hung. Look at these exquisite frames!

It’s not too late to email sales@dorothycircusgallery.com for original artwork inquiries for Submerged. The opening reception will be held March 31.

I’ve created a small collection of beautiful printed vintage plates, available exclusively through Dorothy Circus Gallery for my Submerged exhibition! Each piece is carefully paired with an artwork image, featuring some of my new Submerged paintings, and some favourites! Email sales@dorothycircusgallery.com for purchase inquiries

Spring Releases are Live on Etsy

They’re here! My new Spring Releases and goodies from Emerald City Comic Con are now live on my Etsy shop! I’ve released a collection of 20 different and unique one-of-a-kind vintage plates. I carefully chose artworks to compliment each plate design, and make them all one-of-a-kind artworks!

Also releasing today are 3 original graphite drawings! Each one is 5×7″ and comes framed, and ready to display. You can find them here.

If you couldn’t make it to ECCC this year, I have a small number of Lovers Quarrel limited edition watches and The Sage fine art prints I signed and have available on my Etsy here! This is a limited printing, so once these are sold out, they won’t be made again. 😉

A lucky handful of Sailor Moon fans will have a chance to grab one of my Moonflower totebags! These beauties haven’t been available online until now, and may go quick, so snap yours up here!

New Releases Coming 20/3/17

Goodies are coming to my Etsy shop March 20th! I’m so excited to be releasing 3 original framed graphite drawings, “Pikaboo” (above), “Royal Soottress” (below) and my Lunar New Year inspired piece “Jiha”.

If you missed out on my last vintage plate release, I have a big beautiful new offering of vintage printed plates coming March 20th on my Etsy! Each plate is one-of-a-kind. They’re made on china or bone china vintage plates, and I’ve paired each image very thoughtfully to compliment the plate designs!

Some goodies from my Emerald City Comic Con booth are going live on my Etsy March 20! A handful of Limited Edition “Lover’s Quarrel” metal face wristwatches I made together with Modify Watches will go live at 6PM PST with all my other new releases! This edition is limited to 10 pieces worldwide, and won’t be re-made, so don’t miss out!

A small quantity of my totebags featuring Princess Serenity, Luna and Artemis, inspired by Sailor Moon, are releasing on my Etsy Mar 20 at 6pm PST! Only 15 pieces will be available, so set an alarm for release time!

If you weren’t able to make it to ECCC, I’m releasing the remaining prints of “The Sage” for online collectors! The Sage is the 3rd and final sister piece to my previous fine art print releases, The Frog Princess and The Enchantress. She’s an 11×14″ limited printing that I’ve hand-signed, so once the pieces online sell out, they won’t be made again! The Sage releases March 20 at 6pm PST here.

A small handful of my remaining convention release tshirts and tanks are going live March 20 at 6PM PST on my Etsy! These are all limited edition releases, with very few pieces and sizes available, so once they sell out, they’re gone forever!

Coming March 15 New Online Class With Creativebug

I’ve got something exciting coming soon! On March 15th I’m releasing my first online instructional class with Creativebug on How To Draw Manga Faces! I filmed with the Creativebug team in a beautiful, professional set with amazing equipment, and show you step-by-step how to draw in manga style using tools like non-repro blue pencil, and pen & ink. You can sign up to watch the lesson online here for when it goes live March 15!

Timed Release Prints to Honor International Womens Day

This International Women’s Day I’m celebrating by baring it all! I’m making my painting “Kitty Titties” available as an 11×17” signed print, and “Nips” is releasing for the very first time as a 12×12″ limited edition timed release print! From 12AM PST (Midnight) March 8th to 12PM March 10th you can collect these beauties in celebration of International Women’s Day from my eStore here!

If you’ve been following my art for any amount of time, whether it’s been a week, or for years, I hope you’ve noticed by now that I never set out to offend or put anyone down with my artwork. Life should be fun! We should be able to share art, laughter, and love. And these are the moments that brought “Kitty Titties” into the world via my paintbrush. She is a painting I made to keep in mind that when the world tries to come down on you- about your gender, or what or how you create, or who you are, you can push back and do it with a smile!

“Nips” is a painting I created in 2013 (for my “Spilled Milk” exhibition collection!), in response to years of pressure and criticism I received for depicting the nude female body in my artwork. “Nips” was my way of saying that being offended by painted breasts is as ridiculous as breasts lactating rainbows. North America often misconstrues nudity for sexuality, a belief I do not share. I grew up surrounded by European art culture through my Italian heritage and learned to appreciate how beautiful life and the human form can be whether that’s male and female, we are equal! So I’m sharing my contribution to Women’s Day as not just a female artist, or as a woman, but as a person who truly believes we must stand together in support of each other to reach equality and harmony. It’s time to free the nipple people, appreciate art for arts sake and see women and men as equals!

I hope you love these vibrant rainbow beauties as much as I loved painting them, and join me in support of Women’s Day! You can pick up one, or both, on my eStore here from March 8-10.  I’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds of “Nips” prints sold to support both the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. After the order period closes I’ll print and sign them, so keep an eye open for shipping updates a few weeks after the timed release closes!

Paintings in Progress for Submerged Exhibition Dorothy Circus Gallery

Camilla has been a creative powderkeg for her upcoming “Submerged” exhibition! The show opens March 31th at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, Italy. Here’s a look at what Camilla has been working on.

Some completed artworks have already been revealed! Camilla’s piece “Ajna” is an oil on wood panel painting measuring 12×12″.

Ajna and sister pieces from “Submerged” are Camilla’s first forays into full monochrome painting elements. Camilla shares some thoughts and feelings behind Ajna’s creation:
This painting is all about human perception and our role in nature. I believe we are as much as part of the earth as all the other fauna and animals, yet we don’t always see it. We need to open our third eye and truly appreciate what we are a part of and how we affect the planet.  The colors of her eyes are secondary colors because we tend to put the earth’s life second to our needs.  I believe human beings are amazing and capable of so much. Our greatest assets are compassion and intelligence which is why I wanted to show so much emotion in her. Earth is a beautiful world that is rich in color and life that should be treasured!

“Capuchina” joins the collection for Camilla’s “Submerged” exhibition! Capuchina is an 8×10″ oil on wood panel painting. It’s been some time since Camilla incorporated painting skulls into the composition of her artworks! Long time Camilla fans may remember skulls appearing in Camilla’s “Vain Remains” collection of 2009.

New Paintings For Submerged Exhibition at Dorothy Circus Gallery

Camilla has been painting up a storm for her new “Submerged” Exhibition opening at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, March 31th! Camilla has a collection of 6 new paintings underway. Let’s take a look at some of their progress.

This new painting, “Fishbowl”, includes Camilla’s first ever Seabunny to appear in one of her paintings! Have you seen Seabunnies before? Google them! You won’t regret it!

We can see clues on Camilla’s palette that she was working on “Ajna”. Camilla and Dorothy Circus Gallery revealed the final image for Ajna recently. Camilla shares some thoughts about “Ajna”:
This painting is all about human perception and our role in nature. I believe we are as much as part of the earth as all the other fauna and animals, yet we don’t always see it. We need to open our third eye and truly appreciate what we are a part of and how we affect the planet.  The colors of her eyes are secondary colors because we tend to put the earth’s life second to our needs.  I believe human beings are amazing and capable of so much. Our greatest assets are compassion and intelligence which is why I wanted to show so much emotion in her. Earth is a beautiful world that is rich in color and life that should be treasured!

Camilla’s painting “Capuchina” has been revealed! These colorful skulls are a playful take on a usually macabre subject.

Camilla will be unveiling a new,  large size oil painting, “La Madre” for Submerged exhibition. This piece measures 20×24″, larger than many of Camilla’s contemporary artworks. She will be a show-stopper for sure!
