This International Women’s Day I’m celebrating by baring it all! I’m making my painting “Kitty Titties” available as an 11×17” signed print, and “Nips” is releasing for the very first time as a 12×12″ limited edition timed release print! From 12AM PST (Midnight) March 8th to 12PM March 10th you can collect these beauties in celebration of International Women’s Day from my eStore here!
If you’ve been following my art for any amount of time, whether it’s been a week, or for years, I hope you’ve noticed by now that I never set out to offend or put anyone down with my artwork. Life should be fun! We should be able to share art, laughter, and love. And these are the moments that brought “Kitty Titties” into the world via my paintbrush. She is a painting I made to keep in mind that when the world tries to come down on you- about your gender, or what or how you create, or who you are, you can push back and do it with a smile!
“Nips” is a painting I created in 2013 (for my “Spilled Milk” exhibition collection!), in response to years of pressure and criticism I received for depicting the nude female body in my artwork. “Nips” was my way of saying that being offended by painted breasts is as ridiculous as breasts lactating rainbows. North America often misconstrues nudity for sexuality, a belief I do not share. I grew up surrounded by European art culture through my Italian heritage and learned to appreciate how beautiful life and the human form can be whether that’s male and female, we are equal! So I’m sharing my contribution to Women’s Day as not just a female artist, or as a woman, but as a person who truly believes we must stand together in support of each other to reach equality and harmony. It’s time to free the nipple people, appreciate art for arts sake and see women and men as equals!
I hope you love these vibrant rainbow beauties as much as I loved painting them, and join me in support of Women’s Day! You can pick up one, or both, on my eStore here from March 8-10. I’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds of “Nips” prints sold to support both the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Research Foundation. After the order period closes I’ll print and sign them, so keep an eye open for shipping updates a few weeks after the timed release closes!
