Happy New Year! A look back at 2017

Here’s MY personal Best Nine of 2017. 🎉 This year has been a crazy, unexpected whirlwind! Especially for me creatively. So I wanted to look back and choose 9 pics from my feed that I think made a mark on me as an artist. 🖌 It’s important to look back to see how we grow and change and take notes for the future. This year I expressed many sides of my personality, the fun side with my fuzzbutt bees, 🐝 the environmental side with the 3 eyed Ajna, 🌍 the ridiculous side with my zombees. 💀 I opened up in ways I hadn’t before, like sharing my fan fiction art through Patreon (Bethyl forever!), deciding to channel love over hate with my new @coreyhelfordgallery show “Sky”. I pushed myself technically with “La Madre” one of my biggest most intricate paintings to date, I painted a boy, “Dorian Grey” mixing rainbows and literature, 🌈📖 I spent a year completing my rainbow fox, and I brought my love of doll furniture together with my love of custom toys! I published my first ever online comic “Davinchibi” and launched my Etsy with the help of Asami! Tasha, my amazing coordinator knocked it out of the Park this year! She helped me build my Patreon and so much more. 🙌 I did things this year that I hadn’t done before, traveled more than ever and took creative risks. It hasn’t been an easy year, I think many can relate.😌 This year forced me to push myself to work harder and deal with tragedies. 2017 almost felt apocalyptic. Hate surfaced in ways I didn’t expect and it hurt my heart so gravely that I changed my entire direction for my solo show for Corey Helford next year. I decided to take a stand for my beliefs that ALL humans are equal.💖 I want my art to inspire and heal, to bring people together, to spread love. I hope that I’ve brought smiles to your faces and been there through the hard times. My new motto is “Love over Hate”.💞 I have some big plans for next year, I talk about them here on my new Huffington Post interview. You can read it here!  Now that the year is ending it’s time to look forward to what we can accomplish in 2018! 😊 Stay strong and let your freak flag fly my lovelies!! I can’t thank you enough for all your likes and comments and support. You make me so happy! 😁 I want to wish you the Happiest New Years ever! Let’s celebrate with love! Big hugs and all my best!

No Ordinary Love Statue Releases Internationally

Camilla's Fine Art Statue based on her painting No Ordinary Love

Camilla’s No Ordinary Love Fine Art Statue, a collaboration with Darkhorse Comics and the highly acclaimed Gentle Giant Studios, is now internationally available!

The No Ordinary Love Statue stands 8″ tall, meticulously hand-painted to perfection in an edition of 950 pieces worldwide.

Camilla’s first bold step into 3D Art creation has been a new and exciting challenge. “As my first statue, and first 3-D render of one of my paintings, it was all a series of firsts for me. I spent a great deal of time going over the details to get the right look. With a series of still images of the 3-D model I was able to visualize so much more of the girl than I had even conceived. Now I had to think about what the back of her dress looked like, what her hair shaped into…it was really neat to imagine her in 3-D space. I’ve never had that before with my paintings.”

Camilla discusses more about the Statue release in her new interview with Darkhorse Here

Camilla's Statue takes on No Ordinary Love 'In the round' as 3D art!

Each statue comes numbered with a signed & numbered certificate of authenticity.

Where can I get one?

Camilla’s No Ordinary Love art statues are available direct from Camilla’s eStore Here. Every order through Camilla’s eStore directly supports her artmaking, and she appreciates every one!

The statue may also be ordered through most Comic Book Shops and Hobby shops internationally; Ask your local shop to order through Previews Diamond Direct today.

Press Coverage – Colourlovers & MTV

Hey there, here are a few links to recent interviews and articles.  Lots of people email or msg me to ask about my creative process, inspirations, about Tanpopo or Helmetgirls.  Well, look no further!

This is an interview for Colourlovers, an absolutely cool blog all about creation and yummy colours. You can even vote on your favorite color palettes.

Then there is a series of videos from MTV Geek’s coverage of Emerald City Comic Con.

That’s it from me for now, tomorrow is Megacon in Florida, where I’ll have a booth manned by Tasha and some sweet helpers, and then on Saturday in Birmingham, Anime Imports UK will bring my merchandise to the convention – first time in Great Britain!

Enjoy the interviews and let me know what you think or if there are other questions you’d like answered.

Moonlight Art Magazine

The new Moonlight Art Magazine is now available for Free. You can download it from the Moonlight Art Magazine website. This is a special passion-project by Christopher Moonlight, who I met at SDCC a couple of years ago when he did a video interview.  I was happy to contribute to the magazine and to the cover. Enjoy!

The Past Is on Youtube!

Check out this video by Jordan Graham for the Vancouver Film School. It is a retrospective look at three artists in Vancouver who work in the comics industry. And yes one of those is me (obviously not the first image you see here but I’m in there, I swear!).    Funny how the advice that John Buscema gave me so many years ago is still utterly true and I will never regret following my passion. The road is ahead is still long and full of opportunities and I love sharing those with everyone n_n.  The link is also available on Youtube so go give it a thumbs up or a comment to help support these guys! Thanks for watching and sharing!
