New Paintings for Bee Release August 4 on Etsy

It’s almost here! My Bee Release on Etsy is coming August 4th at 9AM PST and I couldn’t be happier! For this release I’ve teamed up with Planet Bee Foundation to raise funds towards sponsoring a brand new beehive for the School For The Arts in San Francisco. Planet Bee Foundation have been so amazing to work with already at our Save The Bees panel at San Diego Comic Con. If you haven’t read about them here yet, their Mission Statement is:

Planet Bee Foundation is a 501(c)3 environmental education nonprofit based in San Francisco. Their mission is to create a green-minded generation and inspire environmental stewardship through the teaching lens of the struggling honey bee and the power of individual action. Through their school programs, corporate teambuilding workshops, and public education, Planet Bee hopes more people will care for our environment and take action to have a positive impact on our interconnected world. To learn more about the work they do, visit here.

I had such an amazing time painting all my lovely fuzzy little bumblebees for release tomorrow. And I have more to share with you! Keep an eye open for these cuties joining the release.

Each bee is framed and one-of-a-kind. So if you have a favorite, I suggest trying to complete the checkout process right away. Items in the shopping cart on Etsy are not reserved, so the first person to check out completely will get their treasure of choice. Then if you make another order, my Etsy coordinator Asami can combine them for you.

I’m making Beekeeper hand-embellished prints a part of my Bee release too! These beauties are 12×16″ prints and come signed & numbered in an edition of 13pcs with 2 Artist Proofs available. They release on August 4th at 9AM PST here, so set your alarms!

I’ve made a handful of one-of-a-kind apparel and a bee collage towel for my Bee release! There’s only 1 of each and sizes are limited, so if you fall in love with one, don’t delay! The first 150 orders shipping inside the USA will also receive a Bentley wildflower seeds packet to plant and help bees in their area. So get ready for release on Etsy right here August 4th at 9AM PST!

New stickers and sticker sheets are releasing on Etsy too! You can choose between a big fuzzy 3″ Rainbow bee sticker, or a sticker sheet of lots of new pollinator friends! Pick yours up starting August 4th at 9AM PST here.

The Bee Release is Coming Aug 4th!

I have been busy as a bee creating lots of new artwork and lovely treasures for my big Bee release August 4th, 9AM PST on Etsy Here! This is an extra special release because I’ve partnered with Planet Bee Foundation and am fundraising to sponsor a brand new hive for the School For The Arts in San Francisco! Proceeds from my Bee Release Aug 4th will go towards making this new hive possible, and help educate students who also love art and helping the environment! Planet Bee Foundation is a 501(c)3 environmental education nonprofit based in San Francisco. Through their school programs, corporate teambuilding workshops, and public education, Planet Bee hopes more people will care for our environment and take action to have a positive impact on our interconnected world. To learn more about the work they do, visit here.

And by supporting my Bee Release, you can help your local bee populations too! My Etsy coordinator Asami will be adding bee conservation-approved Bentley wildflower seed packets to the first 150 orders shipping inside the USA. Different countries internationally have different rules about importing things like seeds, so these wildflower seeds can go to addresses inside the USA. But if you want to help bees in your area too, check out your local bee conservation organizations for info on how to help!

I have new signed and limited edition prints coming to Etsy Here on Aug 4th 9AM PST. There’ll be signed prints of Lemon Drop, The Beekeeper, Trinity and Alveare. And I’ve made hand-embellished limited edition fine art prints of Queen Beeatrice, Alveare, and Trinity too! I added metallic gold embellishments to each one, in limited and artist proof editions of between 2, 3, 8, 11 and 13pcs only. These beauties are made on heavy archival 300gsm Entrada paper and come signed & numbered, and are each embellished to give them a special personal touch!

The metallic gold paint really pops in the light! It’s amazing as a detail for the honeycombs and adding a touch of sparkly magic to the prints.

I’ve made a brand new collection of original bee paintings too! These little buzzy, bumbly beauties are between 2-4″ in size and come framed. I’m so inspired by bees, as primary pollinators in our natural world, I wanted to make them all different colors. Even a rainbow spectrum one!

I had loads of fun painting these little cuties, and I hope you love them as much as I do! Since they’re smaller petite paintings, they’re a great way for more types of collectors or fans who are new to collecting original art to get an original artwork in their own collections. Each petite bee painting is one-of-a-kind though, and small originals usually find homes quickly, so be sure to check here right at 9AM PST on August 4th.

Vintage plate fans, rejoice! I’ve made a wonderful selection of new bee-themed printed vintage plates together with my artisan plate printer at Beatup Creations featuring my bee themed artworks! There will be a variety of plate sizes and prices, from little petite saucer sized plates, up to big magnificent vintage plates. Each one is truly one-of-a-kind and no plate can be replicated twice, so if you fall in love with one, check right at 9AM PST release time here to add yours to your own hive!

Look at this lovely little family of rainbow bee printed saucers! I had 10 matching saucers and now each one is one-of-a-kind featuring its own rainbow bee. So even if an original oil painting isn’t in your future, you can bring one of my super colorful little bumble-buddies home in a different way as a one-of printed plate!

Handmade necklaces, one-of-a-kind totes, and one-of apparel are joining my Bee Release August 4th at 9AM PST! Each piece will have only 1 in stock, so check Etsy early Aug 4th at 9AM for the most selection.

Can you even bee-lieve this amazing towel?!

These scarves are amazing! You’re going to love them even more in person. Each one is handmade and hand-cut in Canada, and is machine washable on cold (they like to be hang dried!). Supporting local businesses is really important to me, so by collecting one-of and hand-made goodies like these scarves, you’re helping local and small businesses too! Proceeds of all my Bee Release goodies are going towards sponsoring a new bee hive with Planet Bee Foundation in the School For The Arts in San Francisco, and USA orders will receive a packet of bee-conservation approved wildflowers to plant and help their local bees while supplies last. So let’s join together spreading love, education and art in support of the bees August 4th 9AM PST right here!

San Diego Comic Con Part 3 Events

It’s coming up fast! Next week San Diego Comic Con will be upon us, and I’ve got fun events planned during the show. I’ll have a booth again at booth#4723 in the Fantasy Illustrator section, so come visit me there to get your books and prints signed, and check out all my awesome goodies!

I’ve got a special signing event to celebrate the release of my artbook, “Femina & Fauna 2nd Edition”! Dark Horse Comics, the publisher of the artbook, is hosting a signing event on Thursday July 20, from 4-5:30pm at their booth#2615. I’ll be signing alongside Simone Legno, creator of tokidoki who contributed the forward to Femina & Fauna 2nd Ed! We’ll be signing a special SDCC event-only print featuring my artwork ‘Black Rabbit Kaleidoscope’ and Simone’s painting image ‘Selfie’, and signing copies of Femina & Fauna purchased at the show. This is a wristband-only signing limited to 75 wristbands, so you need to get a wristband from Dark Horse Comics booth#2615. There will be 30 wristbands given out Wednesday night, and 45 wristbands distributed Thursday morning at booth 2615, so go visit them early to get one! I hope to see you there, and don’t be shy to ask to take a photo together! 😉

Save The Bees With Art Panel

I’m teaming up with some amazing partners to present a totally unique and super fun panel this year at SDCC! On Friday July 21 from 2-3pm, you can come to my “Save The Bees With Art” panel in Room 2. I’m bringing coloring book pages for everyone from my book Pop Manga Coloring Book and some crayons for if you’d like to color along during the panel! I’m also bringing postcards of my Lemon Drop painting to give out to great question askers during the panel!

I’ll be joined by my friend and art colleague J*Ryu who will be moderating, and Planet Bee Foundation co-founder Debra Tomaszewski, who will be bringing goodies sponsored by Marin Bee Company to give out to great question askers. Planet Bee Foundation are my new partners in conservation efforts to educate and share art and help foster responsible eco-friendly stewardship for our bee populations! The panel will also feature a representative from Holbein, which is the company that makes my favorite Duo Aqua water soluble oil paints! They’ll be giving some Holbein paint samples out during the panel to good question askers too, so if you’ve wondered about how water-soluble oils work and how they’re environmentally friendly, this is a great time to ask!

I’m also returning to Holbein booth 5104 on Saturday, July 22, to do a live painting demonstration from 10-11am! I’ll be working on a brand new painting and demoing Holbein Duo Aqua water soluble oil paints, the same ones I use in my book Pop Painting! This is an awesome opportunity to see my techniques in action, and ask about how I make my paintings, so come watch on Saturday Jul 22 from 10-11am at booth 5104!

Live Painting from ECCC 2016

San Diego Comic Con Part 1

I’m so excited to be returning to San Diego Comic Con! My booth is #4723 in the Fantasy Illustrator section, and I’m bringing lots of original artwork with me this year.

I’ve created a new original painting collection I call “Surreal Safari”, these petite oil paintings range in size from 3.5″ to 4×6″ and 5×7″. They’re an awesome way for new collectors to add an original painting to their collections, since petite paintings range in prices from $450-750+usd

I call this little cutie “Pinkie Pie”, inspired by the awesome Axolotl- they’re a amazing part of the natural world! “Pinkie Pie” is coming to San Diego Comic Con at my booth 4723 where I’ll also have prints, but if you can’t make it to the show, you can pick up a print here.

Another amazing creature I discovered this year is the Seabunny- seriously, if you’ve never heard of one, google search ‘Seabunny’ and you won’t regret it! I knew when I saw photos that I had to paint a rainbow one, so here is “Seabuns” for my Surreal Safari collection! Seanbuns will debut at booth 4723 alongside these other cute critters.

I’ve also been working on my Dorian Gray portrait to get him ready in time to join the Surreal Safari at SDCC booth 4723! He’s inspired by my favorite Oscar Wilde story, and if you’ve never read it, I highly recommend checking it out!

I’m also bringing original drawings to my booth 4723 at SDCC! I have a collection of framed 5×7″ graphite drawings I made during my travels in Europe, and I’ve been holding them for a special release. If you’re coming to the show, definitely visit early because each one is one of a kind, and once it finds a home, it’s gone baby gone!

I’m also making original artwork a part of my fan appreciation at SDCC booth 4723 for fans supporting my artwork at the show! I’m going to raffle original sketches on shikishi boards during the con, so come visit me at booth 4723 for a raffle ticket with your lovely new art goodies! I have lots more announcements for SDCC this year so stay tuned everyone!

Paintings in Progress for Submerged Exhibition Dorothy Circus Gallery

Camilla has been a creative powderkeg for her upcoming “Submerged” exhibition! The show opens March 31th at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, Italy. Here’s a look at what Camilla has been working on.

Some completed artworks have already been revealed! Camilla’s piece “Ajna” is an oil on wood panel painting measuring 12×12″.

Ajna and sister pieces from “Submerged” are Camilla’s first forays into full monochrome painting elements. Camilla shares some thoughts and feelings behind Ajna’s creation:
This painting is all about human perception and our role in nature. I believe we are as much as part of the earth as all the other fauna and animals, yet we don’t always see it. We need to open our third eye and truly appreciate what we are a part of and how we affect the planet.  The colors of her eyes are secondary colors because we tend to put the earth’s life second to our needs.  I believe human beings are amazing and capable of so much. Our greatest assets are compassion and intelligence which is why I wanted to show so much emotion in her. Earth is a beautiful world that is rich in color and life that should be treasured!

“Capuchina” joins the collection for Camilla’s “Submerged” exhibition! Capuchina is an 8×10″ oil on wood panel painting. It’s been some time since Camilla incorporated painting skulls into the composition of her artworks! Long time Camilla fans may remember skulls appearing in Camilla’s “Vain Remains” collection of 2009.

Press Release:

Northport, NY– Haven Gallery is honored to present “Masquerade” a solo exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Canadian artist Camilla d’Errico. “Masquerade” is d’Errico’s first solo show with the gallery and will include eight paintings and eight drawings and 3 framed palettes. “Masquerade” is a distinctively exciting body of work featuring the artist’s quintessentially expressive, anime inspired gamines playfully hiding behind a series of animal and fantasy inspired disguises. The portraits featured in “Masquerade” are surrealistically rendered yet sensibly calculated to reveal the emotional complexities and idiosyncrasies of both d’Errico and the soul present in each and every one of us.

angelica-install1

img_7869-edit

Appearing jovial and lighthearted upon first glance, d’Errico’s archetypally endearing girls may hark back to the nostalgia of our childhood and to our grand sense of imagination as minors. Yet in contrast, looking closer, the many masks and identities we must take on as adults in various aspects of our lives echoes strongly through d’Errico’s use of suggestive facial expressions and gesticulations. A predominant emotion of pensive contemplation can be noted through prolifically parted lips and reflective hand gestures capturing a brief moment of vulnerability and inquisition we so often encounter through our psychological and physiological evolutions.

icarus-install1

the-soul-seeker-framed1

“Masquerade” plays with the viewer through a paradoxical juxtaposition of reality and fantasy. By combining elements of emotion, pattern and pop culture, d’Errico subtly comments on the amalgamation of influences and personalities unique to each of us as individuals. Despite this masquerade, our many layers and individuality may not be sequestered entirely. d’Errico’s eponymous kaleidoscopic pools of color and drips may attest to the complexity and uniqueness that make up our person. These specific striations and patterns brilliantly capture our attention just as quickly as the visual acumen of each mask which in this case, may echo d’Errico’s own wellsprings of inspiration. Homages to anime and manga, American comics, mythology and folklore are readily apparent through the use of tongue-in-cheek titles and notable influences commonly referenced through d’Errico’s seasoned career as a fine artist. “Masquerade” plays with our personal stimuli as they shape our discrete souls. Who we wish to be may already be a part of who we are or who we will be one day.
