Preview Boxing Week Releases

It’s finally snowing here in Vancouver! It puts me in such a wintery mood, I love it! So I wanted to share a sneak peek at more of the fun goodies and new releases I have coming to Etsy on Dec 26th, 9am PST.

There’s going to be hand-painted designer toys like these little cuties. They’re Kathie Olivas Wandering Misfit toys I’ve hand-painted and made into little characters. Each piece tells a story! They’re a fun way to make an original artwork a part of your collection, but there’s only 1 of each, so check right at 9AM PST during release Dec26 here!

I’ve made fun seasonal sets of postcards and buttons! My postcard set is holiday and festive type images, including some inspired by some of my favorite holiday movies. It was my first time drawing Charlie Brown as a chibi, but I think he came out looking super cute!

These wintery button sets are so fun! They’re 1″ buttons and each set has 4 images. I made a limited amount of them though, so pick one up when they release on Etsy Dec 26 starting 9AM PST!

Buttons aren’t the only things I’ve been making this season! Something about the nippy weather gets me so energized to create! I’ve made brooches, necklaces and rings that are each one-of-a-kind and going to release on Etsy Dec 26 at 9AM PST. Since they’s only 1 of each, if you fall in love with a design, don’t sleep on it! My one-of jewellery usually find homes pretty fast so pick your favorites and add some wearable art to your collection!

Speaking of wearable art! Check out these magnificent looking hoddies and sweatshirts from my official collection with Liveheroes! They’re so soft inside, it’s unbelievable. You have to feel it! I’m going to have a variety of designs and sizes launch Dec 26 at 9AM PST

And beanies too! Look at those big floofy white poofs! These beanies are double-lined so they’re warm and soft, perfect for cold weather! There’s only a few of each though, so don’t miss out when they release Dec 26 at 9AM pst here!

I’ve got sale prices coming to both Etsy and my Custom Print Shop Dec 26-30 too! So if you’ve had your eye on a special print, or hard enamel pins like Sir Reginald, you can find them at special holiday prices.

Prints on Etsy will show on a sale price from Dec 26-30, and you can get 25% off all custom prints on my Custom Print Shop here with the code BOXING17 It’s my first time making custom prints on sale, so if you’ve always wanted to pick up some for your collection, Dec 26-30 is a great time!

That’s not all the fun I have in store for Dec 26! When you order from Dec26-30 I have some fun goodies and bonus thank yous for orders! Orders valued $10+ before shipping get an Oh Deery button I made especially for boxing week while supplies last. And if you order $75+ before shipping, you’ll also get a signed 5×7″ print of “Bad Madeline”!

I’ve also got other surprises for orders like Mr. Velvedeer postcards that will go in to orders at random, and new seasonal stickers to add to orders as a bonus Thank You for your support! It’s a lot to take in but set your alarms and keep your eyes peeled on The Camilla Store on Etsy here for release Dec 26, 12PM PST!

San Diego Comic Con Part 1

I’m so excited to be returning to San Diego Comic Con! My booth is #4723 in the Fantasy Illustrator section, and I’m bringing lots of original artwork with me this year.

I’ve created a new original painting collection I call “Surreal Safari”, these petite oil paintings range in size from 3.5″ to 4×6″ and 5×7″. They’re an awesome way for new collectors to add an original painting to their collections, since petite paintings range in prices from $450-750+usd

I call this little cutie “Pinkie Pie”, inspired by the awesome Axolotl- they’re a amazing part of the natural world! “Pinkie Pie” is coming to San Diego Comic Con at my booth 4723 where I’ll also have prints, but if you can’t make it to the show, you can pick up a print here.

Another amazing creature I discovered this year is the Seabunny- seriously, if you’ve never heard of one, google search ‘Seabunny’ and you won’t regret it! I knew when I saw photos that I had to paint a rainbow one, so here is “Seabuns” for my Surreal Safari collection! Seanbuns will debut at booth 4723 alongside these other cute critters.

I’ve also been working on my Dorian Gray portrait to get him ready in time to join the Surreal Safari at SDCC booth 4723! He’s inspired by my favorite Oscar Wilde story, and if you’ve never read it, I highly recommend checking it out!

I’m also bringing original drawings to my booth 4723 at SDCC! I have a collection of framed 5×7″ graphite drawings I made during my travels in Europe, and I’ve been holding them for a special release. If you’re coming to the show, definitely visit early because each one is one of a kind, and once it finds a home, it’s gone baby gone!

I’m also making original artwork a part of my fan appreciation at SDCC booth 4723 for fans supporting my artwork at the show! I’m going to raffle original sketches on shikishi boards during the con, so come visit me at booth 4723 for a raffle ticket with your lovely new art goodies! I have lots more announcements for SDCC this year so stay tuned everyone!

Comicpalooza Opens Today!

I’m so excited to be here in Texas for the first time! Comicpalooza opens today at the George R Brown convention center in Houston, TX. My booth is #41 in the Publishers Pavillion, in front of the main exhibition hall entrance.

I’ve brought lots of goodies! Including one of a kind printed vintage plates, designer socks made with Todiefor Clothing, totebags, convention exclusive prints, goodies and more!

My artwork “Shipwrecked” is on this year’s Comicpalooza badges! So cool!

I snapped some fun photos from my hotel! Take a look at this mondo mama convention center.

And, of course, I leave rainy Vancouver BC and just bring all the rain with me to Houston! 😉 I’m the bringer of rain. Every time I visit California: it rains. Even in the summer. And now I can say the same about Texas! But that’s okay, I’ll be cozy and dry in the convention center at booth #41!

I’ve brought plenty of totebags and fun goodies to my booth! If you’re coming to the show, be sure to pick up my convention exclusive colorway of “The Baby Rebellion” print, I’ll sign it too!

Today is also my live painting panel from 4:30pm-5:30pm in room 371C! I’m working on a new painting, so come visit and we can chat, I’ll take Q&A, and talk about how I make my paintings.

Special Release Tonight on Etsy

If you can’t make it to Comicpalooza for “The Baby Rebellion” totebags, then fear not! I’m releasing a handful of them on The Camilla Store On Etsy tonight at 6pm PST. I’ll also be releasing the beautiful printed socks I take to conventions!

My Etsy goodies are often very low quantity or limited pieces (such as plates or graphite drawings) and can find homes really quickly! But, putting an item in the shopping cart doesn’t reserve it, so it’s possible it will get bought while you’re still shopping. So if there’s something you’re really excited to collect, try and checkout with it separately first. Then if you make a second order of less limited goodies, my Etsy coordinator Asami can work with you on combining the packages and postage if you send a message to TheCamillaStore on Etsy. 🙂

Paintings in Progress for Submerged Exhibition Dorothy Circus Gallery

Camilla has been a creative powderkeg for her upcoming “Submerged” exhibition! The show opens March 31th at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, Italy. Here’s a look at what Camilla has been working on.

Some completed artworks have already been revealed! Camilla’s piece “Ajna” is an oil on wood panel painting measuring 12×12″.

Ajna and sister pieces from “Submerged” are Camilla’s first forays into full monochrome painting elements. Camilla shares some thoughts and feelings behind Ajna’s creation:
This painting is all about human perception and our role in nature. I believe we are as much as part of the earth as all the other fauna and animals, yet we don’t always see it. We need to open our third eye and truly appreciate what we are a part of and how we affect the planet.  The colors of her eyes are secondary colors because we tend to put the earth’s life second to our needs.  I believe human beings are amazing and capable of so much. Our greatest assets are compassion and intelligence which is why I wanted to show so much emotion in her. Earth is a beautiful world that is rich in color and life that should be treasured!

“Capuchina” joins the collection for Camilla’s “Submerged” exhibition! Capuchina is an 8×10″ oil on wood panel painting. It’s been some time since Camilla incorporated painting skulls into the composition of her artworks! Long time Camilla fans may remember skulls appearing in Camilla’s “Vain Remains” collection of 2009.

New Paintings For Submerged Exhibition at Dorothy Circus Gallery

Camilla has been painting up a storm for her new “Submerged” Exhibition opening at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, March 31th! Camilla has a collection of 6 new paintings underway. Let’s take a look at some of their progress.

This new painting, “Fishbowl”, includes Camilla’s first ever Seabunny to appear in one of her paintings! Have you seen Seabunnies before? Google them! You won’t regret it!

We can see clues on Camilla’s palette that she was working on “Ajna”. Camilla and Dorothy Circus Gallery revealed the final image for Ajna recently. Camilla shares some thoughts about “Ajna”:
This painting is all about human perception and our role in nature. I believe we are as much as part of the earth as all the other fauna and animals, yet we don’t always see it. We need to open our third eye and truly appreciate what we are a part of and how we affect the planet.  The colors of her eyes are secondary colors because we tend to put the earth’s life second to our needs.  I believe human beings are amazing and capable of so much. Our greatest assets are compassion and intelligence which is why I wanted to show so much emotion in her. Earth is a beautiful world that is rich in color and life that should be treasured!

Camilla’s painting “Capuchina” has been revealed! These colorful skulls are a playful take on a usually macabre subject.

Camilla will be unveiling a new,  large size oil painting, “La Madre” for Submerged exhibition. This piece measures 20×24″, larger than many of Camilla’s contemporary artworks. She will be a show-stopper for sure!

Keep an eye on Camilla’s social media @camilladerrico #camilladerrico and here on the blog for more updates as artworks develop for Submerged at Dorothy Circus Gallery March 31! Are you a collector interested in acquiring an original from Submered? Drop us a line at info@camilladerrico.com
