It’s already the end of March … and April is rearing its crazy head! But at least it’s stopped snowing in Vancouver and Mother Nature might give us a warm Spring!
What’s up in April? A LOT. Here goes:
Next weekend, April 4-5 is Emerald City Comic Con! Seattle really kicks butt with this convention. I’ll have a table in Artist Alley, as usual 🙂 Come out because I’ve got BURN issue 6 and copies of Tanpopo!
On April 4th, at my favorite store in Vancouver, El Kartel, the muchachos are hosting a group show called 100 Amigos so you can guess that there will be 100 artists involved. Each artist painted on the same sized, square 12″ canvas. I’m putting the finishing touches on mine now! I’m bummed that I can’t be there since I’ll be in Seattle, and I have to miss the afterparty too ….
The weekend after that there are two themed shows that I am a part of – first, on Friday April 10th is the Zodiac Show at Myplasticheart in New York. I couldn’t say no to John, especially after my first choice of Chinese Zodiac animal was ok – the Dragon! My piece is a black and white with fluorescent red for the dragon. I’ll sneak peak it closer to the show.
The second gallery show that weekend is in LA, at Gallery Nucleus. It’s actually a show but also a launch for the new Grafuck vol. 4 book. Oh yeah, sexy work! I’m featured in the book and my contribution to the show is the Honeylocks painting and my 2 original pencilled panels from the hot & heavy scene in Nightmares & Fairytales issue 21.
Though I won’t be at those two shows, the next Thursday, April 16th I will definitely be at the Stumptown Pre-Party at Compound Gallery in Portland. And I wouldn’t miss this for the world because it’s not just a pre-party … it’s a full on launch of a new art print, a new tshirt and a canvas bag with my images! We’re still working on the final details and post cards, flyers, etc. but you can be sure there will be a press release with lots of images coming soon!
The party is going to be rockin’ with music, drinks, and hopefully everyone who is going to Portland anyways for the Stumptown Comics Fest. The convention runs Saturday and Sunday and this time I’ve got two tables for all the great stuff I’ll have to sell.
What? Do you think I’m letting you all off so easy? Ha! April isn’t over yet! I’ve still got one more event to tell you about. I know, I know, I’m crazy! But its in Vancouver – sort of …
On April 23rd and 24th I’ll be at Whistler! The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival is back in Whistler and there is so much more going on than just skiing and boarding – like me live painting in the Zune Hut! For those two days I’ll be painting for 3 hours each day on snowboards and helmets.
