“Start spreading the news, da-da-da-da-da, I’m leaving today …”
Hey everyone! I am really excited to introduce the two gallery shows I have coming up and to announce that I am out of my artist cave for a while. I locked myself away to paint for a few months for these two very special shows. I wanted the paintings to be memorable, and each set for each gallery had to be distinct and tell its own story.
The first show opens to the public on October 17th at the Opera Gallery. They have put together a show called “Young Blood” with 15 artists that they think represent the “best new talent in art today” and as being on “the path to international recognition”. It is truly humbling to be showing at Opera Gallery, and to be part of this show and group of artists.
These pieces are a reflection of my darker nature, a bit sadder and more emotional than I’ve gone before. I was inspired by nature, by its beauty and the tears of both joy and sorrow that it brings. For a full catalogue of all the artists’ pieces and information about buying, contact Opera Gallery at firstname.lastname@example.org. My 4 beauties are viewable here.
The second show opens October 24th at Ad Hoc Gallery. “In the Language of Angels” my work is shown alongside five other female artists: Sarah Joncas, Mijn Schatje, Lisa Alisa, Simone Maynard & Mia. It isn’t your usual all-girls show either, this show has a kick and is also quite international. I chose a very specific theme this time: The Egg Princesses. Although smaller panels than the Young Blood pieces, I put a lot of extra care into the details of my royal beauties, their crowns, their feathered friends and each one speaks in her own unique way.

These will be my last two big shows until February 2009. I do have a few pieces in other exihibitions and shows between now and then, but for now I will enjoy the feeling of a job well done and can’t wait for everyone to see the reason for my disappearance.
Sing with me, “I want to be a part of it … New York, New York!!”
