Hello, hello! I am back in Vancouver and working madly away at some new comic work!! Very exciting stuff. It’s been an unbelievable year, 2010, and I’m even more excited about 2011. There’s so much going on, and art and comics and merchandise and toys … you’ll be hearing a lot from me! So I hope you’ll be as excited to read my news as I am to write it ^_^
I wanted to give a shout out to all my fans, my followers, my supporters, my family and all the wonderful partners that have helped me get as far as I’ve come. That includes the editors, publishers, convention organizers, manufacturers, licensees, suppliers, retail stores, distributors, and galleries. It’s amazing when I break down just how many people are part of my artistic life and career!
2011 is going to be FULL of releases — starting with my full length Art Book by Dark Horse! And of course my first ever vinyl toy, the Kuro vinyl in several editions, including DIY and special editions too. You’ll be seeing all kinds of new prints, digitals and more limited edition fine art prints, more Classic Hardware cases and jewelry, more Gelaskins, and more clothing, just to name a few things. Some new, never before seen stuff will include wallpapers, wall murals, and even games! And I’ll be publishing Tanpopo 4 (hopefully also Tanpopo 5) and beginning to work on the Helmetgirls graphic novel.
I look forward to the new year, and to celebrating the end of 2010, toasting to 2011 and to all the FUN we’ll have! And a big thank you to you all. You give me the energy, the motivation and the inspiration to keep creating my art and characters.
I’ve barely had time to unpack from Fan Expo in Toronto and I’m already packing for Dragon Con in Atlanta! I’ll post pics from Fan Expo really soon, probably just do a combined convention post-mortem next week.
So for anyone and everyone going to Dragon Con, this is where you’ll find me:
Comics and Pop Artists Alley in Grand Hall East of the Atlanta Hyatt Regency Hotel
(omg that’s right next to Hope Gallery Tattoo! Baroness, we are gonna have fuuuuun!)
One thing about Fan Expo got me even more excited about Dragon Con – the Helmetgirls Cosplay Competition! My original Helmetgirls from Toronto were there to show me their new cool helmets. There will be more of you at Dragon Con, so come by my table to show me your Helmetgirls outfits! Here’s one sweet gal who came to SDCC:
And of course I can’t let my debut at Dragon Con happen without bringing new merchandise! So get ready because I’ll be locked and loaded down with new stuff, like button packs, stickers, tattoos, clothing, and new prints! And of course, I’ll have copies of Tanpopo #3 and a few of the GIANT BUDDHA Kuros for anyone who wants a whole lotta lovin’ to take home with them 😉
Hi everyone, I’m still battling the most outrageous Comic-Con cold in history. Can you believe it? This year’s con really did me in :P. I wanted to thank everyone who came out to see me in my spiffy new booth 4920 in the Fantasy Illustrator section of the convention. Having a 10×10 booth totally rocked!
I had lots of press visits too and need to thank Hi Fructose, Vinyl Pulse, Spanky Stokes, LA Weekly, Wired, and even Toysrevil for posting about Comic-Con. My signings at Dark Horse, Last Gasp and Image Comics were all tons of fun with lots of fans who came by to say hello – thank you! And the Buddha launch was a huge success!
Another couple of really fun things to come out during Comic-Con, but unrelated are the Notcot & Notcouture (thanks Jean!) :
And for anyone who didn’t get their very own Buddha Kuro, he’s now available from the online store and ships from the US. So he’s more affordable than ever! I’ll get over my nasty cold and be back with more cool news for you very soon. Ciao Ciao! Camilla
