Fan Expo Vancouver 2012 with Camilla d’Errico

The always excellent Fan Expo Vancouver is next weekend on April 21st & 22nd! We’ll be at booth P26 in Artist Alley, so be sure to come say hello to Camilla d’Errico and the rest of the d’Errico Studios crew! Just take a look at the map to see where we’ll be set up:

At the booth this year, we’ll have some special, limited-edition clothing items that will soon be announced! Attendees of Fan Expo Vancouver will be some of the first to see and purchase the new designs!

Plus, we’ll have available the new Kuro Fox Glass Charms, the prototype of the ‘No Ordinary Love’ bust from Dark Horse Comics, along with some of the first-edition copies of Femina & Fauna that are no longer available in stores, and some new, very beautiful notebooks and journals imported from France.

There will also be some advanced copies of the Tanpopo hardcover from BOOM! Studios available at the booth. If you’re a Kickstarter backer, and would like to arrange to pick up your hardcover, slipcase edition of Tanpopo at the show, please email info@camilladerrico.com to check to see if your copy will be ready in time. Right now, Camilla is very busy adding personalized sketches to the books for Kickstarter backers, but we’ll do our best if you’d rather pick up the book than have it shipped to your home.

Spaces for original sketches are extremely limited this year, but if you’d like to pick up your own, please email info@camilladerrico.com as soon as possible to see if there’s still time to get on the list this year.

Thanks for reading, everyone! And we hope to see you at the show! If you’re planning to attend, RSVP on Facebook and we’ll look for your smiling face. ^_^ Fan Expo Vancouver is going to be great this year!

LYRIC 2012 – “33 Dragon Tears” for Group Show Curated by Glenn Barr

It’s with great pleasure that we announce a brand-new Camilla d’Errico original piece that will be included in celebrated pop-artist Glenn Barr’s special group show at the 323East Gallery titled LYRIC 2012, opening next weekend in Michigan.

Barr’s impressive work has captivated collectors and fans for years, and it’s no surprise as to why – just look at his piece titled “December” below:

“Music and its LYRICS can always stimulate our emotions as well as having us contemplating a visional narrative. Artists have been known to use lyrics as inspiration and with this have created some of the greatest works in the world. This exhibition will illuminate the artist’s personal transcription from a song lyric to canvas.” – Glenn Barr

With Barr’s above statement acting as the framework for the group show, Camilla has created a new work titled “33 Dragon Tears” inspired by the Portland musician Sophe Lux and her song “Elektra 33” from the 2007 album Waking the Mystics.

Other creators in the show include Japanese artist Eimi, the ever iconic Luke Chueh, mind-bender Travis Louie, extraordinary graffiti artist Revok, psychedelic master Beau Stanton, plus Jeff Soto, Tristan Eaton, David Vecchiato, and many more!

If you remember, Camilla participated in Barr’s music-themed show before, creating a pieced titled “Broken” that was inspired by the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach.

Without further delay, here is the public unveiling of  “33 Dragon Tears” by Camilla d’Errico:

The original framed piece will be on display and available for sale. Please contact info@323east.com to arrange a purchase if you would like this piece in your collection.

Camilla d’Errico Art on USA Network’s Psych TV Show

Several fans on Facebook spotted some original Camilla d’Errico art in the latest episode of USA Network’s Psych television show the other night! It’s so amazing that people noticed the pieces right away. Thank you so much, wonderful fans! You are the best.

The episode of Psych (staring hunks James Roday and Dulé Hill) featuring the art work is called “Let’s Doo-Whop It Again” from Season 6, Episode 13 and even features special guest stars Cheech Martin and Mekhi Phifer. In a scene in a tattoo palor, you can see three different Camilla d’Errico paintings!

In this shot, you can see “Feeding Time” and “Shark Bite” behind the actor:

And here you can see “Octogirl” on the wall:

Pretty cool, huh?!

Speaking of tattoos, awesome fan Nikki recently had “Canadian Tiger” converted into a beautiful shoulder piece:

Thanks, Nikki! It looks great!

Don’t forget, next week is Emerald City Comicon! This is your last chance to request an original sketch, so email store@camilladerrico.com if you would like your very own, one-of-a-kind piece of original art. The show will also be the debut of the Kuro Glass Charm. Hope to see you in Seattle!

Glass Kuro Fox Charm Is Coming Soon

You might have seen a tease of the new Glass Kuro Fox Charm over on Tumblr, but now for some more details! First, some bad news. Everyone expected the charms would be ready by WonderCon, which is why it was up on Facebook. But unfortunately, some issues with shipping have made that impossible. Still, the charms will be available at Emerald City Comicon later this month! On to the details!

The Glass Kuro Fox Charm is based on the devilish form in Tanpopo, but you probably already knew that, right? >_^

Each charm is made of hand-blown glass by Bling Squared, so every piece is unique in its own way. The charms come with a certificate that is numbered and hand-signed as well, and because of the time and craftsmanship that goes into each, they are limited to only 250 pieces. Each charm retails for $30.

In other WonderCon news, the ‘No Ordinary Love’ prototype statue will be on display, and pre-orders can be taken at the show. The statue will be available for pre-order online as well in the near future, and retails for $125. Please know that shipping on this item will be a bit higher because of its delicate nature.

Also, there are only 25 fine art prints of Resurrected Bone Collective available, but a handful will be at the show on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are plans to have any fine art prints left up in the online store as well.

Finally, Emerald City Comicon in Seattle is coming up fast! It’ll be so great to see everyone and we’ll try have some hardcover books of Tanpopo for sale! And remember, there are only five spaces available if you’d like to order a customized, one-of-a-kind original sketch to be picked up at the show. Sketches start at $100 for a single character, and can be more elaborate for higher price points.

Thanks for all of your support! Hope you enjoy the high-quality, limited-edition items that have been coming out this year. It’s sometimes hard to get items before they sellout, like the new clothing line (which has been so successful because of you!), but the idea is for everyone to get something that is personal and lasts for a long time.

If you’d like to pre-order the Glass Kuro Fox Charm, the ‘No Ordinary Love’ statue, a Resurrected Bone Collective fine art print, an original sketch or anything else, please email store@camilladerrico.com and someone should get back to you right away. Thanks again! Hope to see you at one of the conventions this year!

Limited-Edition Clothing Release: Part 2

It’s with great pleasure that we’re releasing the second of a continuing series of high-quality, limited-edition clothing items! As was the case following the first launch, many of the new items are expected to sell out in a short amount of time. So, if you’ve got your eye on a specific piece, act fast or potentially miss out!

Click on any of the photos to be re-directed to the online store. Also, if you’re attending WonderCon this year, be sure to come by booth #451 to see some of the last clothing items available from the first set released earlier this year.

Convention Seasons Kicks-Off with WonderCon

2012 is going to be a great year for fan conventions! While Camilla and the rest of the crew would like to make it out to every show, we can only go to so many each year. Camilla is busy creating so many wonderful new paintings, and of course still working on Tanpopo, Helmetgirls, and Sky Pirates of Neo Terra. We hope to see you as many as possible at our booth!

The first show of the year is WonderCon from March 16th – 18th in sunny Anaheim, California. A very special prototype of the recently announced “No Ordinary Love” statue from Dark Horse Comics (seen above) will be on display at the d’Errico Studios booth. We’ll be taking pre-orders for the statue at the show, which are limited to 950 editions worldwide. Come by and see how beautiful the bust looks in person before it’s available in stores.

Camilla is also taking a select number of orders for sketches from now until March 9th for WonderCon. Sketches of a single character start at $100, and be customized for more characters upon request. Only five sketches will be available for fans to order, so if you want a one-of-a-kind original work from Camilla d’Errico that you can pick up at WonderCon, send an email to info@camilladerrico.com before time runs out! (Those wanting to get their sketch requests in early for Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle should email as well!)

Because we love seeing fans so much in person, we’ve saved a few items from the brand-new clothing launch that are currently sold-out online. Come say hello to see what items we’ll have left – it may be the very last of that clothing anywhere!

A lot of people have been asking about other conventions over on the Facebook page, and as promised – here’s a list of conventions where d’Errico Studios will have a booth this year:

Emerald City Comicon – March 30th – April 1st.

Fan Expo Vancouver – April 21st – 22nd.

Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo – April 27th – 29th.

Anime Expo – June 29th – July 2nd.

San Diego Comic Con – July 12th – 15th.

Fan Expo Canada (in Toronto) – August 23rd – 26th.

New York Comic Con – October 11th – 14th.

More shows may be added as the year continues, so stayed tuned! And keep an eye on Camilla’s Tumblr next week for a sneak preview of a very special item.

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you at a show!

Dark Horse Announces Camilla d’Errico ‘No Ordinary Love’ Limited-Edition Bust

One of the brightest stars of pop-surrealism, Camilla d’Errico is known as an artist, designer and graphic storyteller. Now, she is set to debut perhaps her most collectible item yet, as Dark Horse is very proud to bring forward her first deluxe sculptural piece, an intensely-detailed bust based upon her painting “No Ordinary Love”.

“’No Ordinary Love’ is a piece that is very dear to me,” Camilla d’Errico reflected, “ its the visual interpretation and expression of my feelings for my ‘one and only’, so you can imagine how exciting this is that this particular piece was chosen!”

Slated for a late June release, the meticulously-painted sculpture measures approximately 8” tall and 5” in width, making it a diminutive but exquisite jewel of a statuette, packaged in full-color collector box with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The beautiful sculpture is set to make its public debut at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City for Toy Fair 2012. Upon release, this piece will be strictly limited to only 950 numbered copies for worldwide distribution, and is sure to sell out.

“Translating Camilla’s work into three-dimensions was a challenge,” Dark Horse’s David Scroggy observed, “but with a lot of help from Camilla and the skilled artisans at Gentle Giant Studios, we were able to arrive at a piece that is unmistakably d’Errico, with all the subtle nuance and details of sculpture and paint application that her audience would expect.”

Camilla d’Errico supervised every aspect of the sculpting and paint application as the piece took shape, providing additional reference, commentary and color notes throughout the prototyping process.

The painting “No Ordinary Love” was included in the Dark Horse published art book of d’Errico’s work, Femina and Fauna, which has gone into multiple printings, being found in a diverse array of retail venues around the world.

Be sure to keep up-to-date with all of Camilla’s projects by following her on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Tanpopo Hardcover Now Available To Order from BOOM! Studios

Last year you helped us raise over $15,000 to help fund a very special edition of Camilla d’Errico’s Tanpopo through one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns ever in the comics industry. We’re so grateful for those that were able to help fund the hardcover project, and we’re proud to announce that the book is now available for comic shops to order from BOOM! Studios.

News of the book’s release into the comic market was featured on sites like CBR, comics-x-aminerBrokenFrontier, and Comicosity to the Brooklyn blog AlternativeMindz, PopDecay, TheOuthouse, and the awesome Tumblr page Ladies Making Comics. The hardcover edition of Tanpopo could be in stores as soon as March, which means Kickstarter funders should be getting their rewards in just a couple months!

If you missed all of the different tiers and prize, you can still check out the Kickstarter page to see all of the bonus material, like:

Also in Kickstarter news, the books from Womanthology are starting to arrive, so those should be sent out to the funders of the project soon! (You guys are so amazing for helping fund two big projects!)

If you didn’t get a chance to pre-order the book and you would like your local comic shop to carry the hardcover of Tanpopo, contact them and tell them to look for Tanpopo in January’s issue of their Previews catalog, Diamond code: JAN12 0963.

And if there’s not a comic shop in your area, the book should be available to order online through the BOOM! Studios website in the near future. Keep a look out on the Facebook and Twitter page, and we’ll be sure to let you know when it’s up on Amazon too.

Sky Pirates of Neo Terra Webcomic Begins

Today starts the beginning of the Sky Pirates of Neo Terra webcomic illustrated by Camilla d’Errico and written by Kurtis J. Weibe! The series will be updated bi-weekly on Fridays on the Sky Pirates website, but you can catch a sneak-peek of the comic on the Sky Pirates Facebook page!

Check out a teaser below:

We hope you love the new online series as well as the new game coming out soon for the iPhone, iPad, iTouch, and Facebook platforms! The webcomic will showcase characters not explored in the original Sky Pirates of Neo Terra graphic novel and give back-story to events that happen in the game.

As a special treat, here’s a quick peak at some work-in-progress material that will be out sometime next year:

We’ve mentioned it before, but be sure to “like” the Sky Pirates Facebook page for a chance to win an original piece of art from Camilla!
