Painted Kokeshi Doll – Whoopi for Ayden Gallery

Camilla has completed a beautiful new hand painted Japanese wooden Kokeshi doll as part of her Spilled Milk Exhibition at Ayden Gallery! This doll, “Whoopi”, stands 12″ tall and is painted in the round with braided rainbow hair.

Whoopi is available through Ayden Gallery here and at info@aydengallery.com

Vinyl Kuro Sighting

One of Camilla’s vinyl Kuro toys has been spotted getting a (very extreme) makeover in the capable hands of sculptor and fine artist Matt Anderson of Matt A* Customs for exhibition at his upcoming Solo Show at SubUrban Vinyl Gallery. Kuro’s looking amazing already, with the back lobes of his head turning into plated octopus tentacles. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the full reveal!

New Painting Exhibition June 14

Ayden Gallery in Vancouver is hosting an exciting new exhibition opening June 14. Camilla will be featured alongside artists Kristian Adam, Peter Ricq and Lani Imre.

Camilla is working on a series of 10 brand new paintings for the exhibition. Camilla’s most recent previous painting series, created for The Candy Escape Exhibition made a big splash among fans and the art world with her hauntingly beautiful surreal portraiture. From the looks of Camilla’s Work-In-Progress photo, this painting series will blow us away!

Shows in Vancouver – Ayden & SFU

This Thursday, February 17th there are two cool shows going down in Vancouver!

The first is at SFU and it’s an artshow / fundraiser for the 4th Year Visual Art Students.

I was happy to contribute to their show, and 4 of my FINE ART PRINTS will be available for purchase:

YuutaZebramilk_smCanadian TigerRainbow Fingers

Here’s a little blurb about the show, from the soon to be Grads:

“Looking for an excellent night of local visual art, performance, local bands and DJs, and cheap drinks? Join us at To All Tomorrow’s Parties’s visual art’s exhibition at The Lion’s Den Project Space located at 79 East Pender, here in Vancouver! Opening night is February 18, 7:30pm, and the party and cheap drinks will roll on to 2am! 5$ Cover, and all night for partying! Join in for a night exploring both contemporary student works, and professional visual artist Camilla d’Errico’s Fine Art, to some sweet beats of local bands and DJ mixes.”

The second is the Ayden Gallery’s 7th Anniversary Show in collaboration with Toms Shoes.  That takes place on Friday February 18th.  Doors open at 7 pm.  Check out the special Toms/Ayden site and also Facebook! That gallery is going to be packed and overflowing!

There are going to be one-of-a-kind pairs of handpainted shoes from different artists – including me!

I’m also going to be on hand with a few of the featured artists to customize shoes that night. So if you come to the gallery, grab a pair of shoes or buy them beforehand, and get them customized.

Toms entire concept is based on 1+1, so for each pair of Toms shoes that are bought (anywhere) they give a pair to children in need.

Needless to say, the proceeds from the sale of the original shoes will go to charity.

That’s two amazing art and gallery shows in Vancouver, all in one night. Come to both! Support university students, support children in need.  We’re an awesome community in Vancouver ^_^

Clothing For the Party

Hello, hello!  Last night I was busy painting murals and giant 48×72″ canvases for the install of the Winter Release Party show at Ayden Gallery.  Here’s a work in progress – literally of me working – on one of the canvases.  The other one will be kept a suprise until Friday night ^_^ since it is a brand new image, never before seen from the depths of my mind!

Riding WIP

This is Rocket Ride!  And she is also the subject of one of the t-shirt designs that are especially for the party!  Here are some lame-o mock-ups, which will have to do for now because we’ve all been running around like mad getting ready for the party.  So excuse the Photoshop, but you get the picture!

And since one design is never enough, I wanted to get a little inverse action happening on a recent Internet favorite – Croc-o-Hug, so this is what we’ll have for guys and girls!

Crocohug tee inverse.

The bestest part of the night will be the CUSTOM T-SHIRT action! I’ll customize, right at the party, 20 t-shirts.  So if you want one you have be quick to get there. Doors open at 7:00 pm.  Custom tees are $50 and the printed tees are $40.  Tomorrow morning I’ll post the last update!  Tonight is final set-up and finishing touches. Remember: Adyen Gallery. Tomorrow. Fun!

Tanpopo Clothing Release Tomorrow !

It is the Friday before the party, everyone’s getting ready, the plushies and books have been delivered, the clothing has been printed, the giclees too! Tomorrow we set up. Phew! So much work, but so much fun!

And here are pics of some of the clothing … not all … just a taster!

Here is all the information you need to get to the Ayden for the party:

And don’t forget, I will be LIVE PAINTING the first 5 Tanpopo giclees!!

Launch Party Coming Up and SDCC

I’m back, crazy as ever with so much planning! In a few days, this Saturday, the Tanpopo Clothing Release Party is going to hit! Everyone who can come, should come to the Ayden in Tinseltown (Vancouver) for this big event. We’ve designed some really funky clothes – got away from ‘just’ tshirts (although there are also tees) and tried something different; dresses for girls, ties for guys, and some hot hot underwear for both!

This here is a sneak peak at one of the tshirts. It has one of the panels from the Tanpopo Vol 1 book, one of my favorite scenes, actually.  This is not photoshop, btw, this is a modeled shot! The print job is fabulous!

I’ll be blogging again throughout the week as I get more pictures from the printers! I am so excited about this. And the crazy weekend leads up to San Diego Comic Con, of course!  This year, for the first time, I have my own table. I won’t be free to roam around, but I’m happy to have a home base. It’ll be easier to find me too!  N11 Small Press.  I do have a few signing events each day, on top of being at the Image booth 1705 to promote Sky Pirates of Neo Terra.  Here’s the schedule:

Thursday 3:00 pm I’m signing at Hi Fructose stand. I’ll have Vol 10s and there will be some special prints by Hi Fructose for people who stop by.  Booth N. 4939. They call the stand chaotic … I can’t wait!

Friday at 12:45 until 2:00 pm I’ll be at the:  CBLDF Master Sessions: “Who Killed Amanda Palmer?” Life Drawing with Camilla D’Errico, David Mack, & Terry Moore—

I can’t get enough of the description … Bring your sketchbook and witness how illustrative masters Camilla D’Errico, David Mack, and Terry Moore draw from life as internationally renowned performer Amanda Palmer poses at this CBLDF Master Session! Amanda is the creative force behind Who Killed Amanda Palmer?, a book of photographs accompanied with stories by Neil Gaiman, and the critically acclaimed album of the same name. Palmer will establish the mood for the event, while the artists translate her dramatic poses into their own distinctive styles. The original art from this session will be auctioned off on Saturday night at the CBLDF’s auction! Room 30CDE  .

Need I say that I’m quite honoured? Seriously, this is amazing!!

Moving on to Saturday, another CBLDF – this time I’ll be at their booth 1920 to sign the “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” print. There will be 100 of these only and unfortunately no Neil … but there will be me, so I hope that is enough 🙂

Ok so that is about it for now. More Tanpopo clothing coming soon!!!
