Canadian Tiger Fine Art Print

It’s almost time for the Canadian Tiger Fine Art Print to go on sale. Thursday, September 30th is the big day!

.

Here are some photos of how the prints are coming along.  OMG they are so beautiful!

Remember that there are only 100 of these prints, they are the first prints of a new limited edition fine art print series and they are specially priced at only $100.  This is why we call the prints 100 x 100.  For an 18 x 24 it’s a crazy good price, and you’ll see by the quality too.

.

Each print also comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.  So I’ll be signing and numbering BOTH the prints and the certificates.

.

Thursday is right around the corner, so I hope everyone is as excited as I am!

Fall News

Hey!  I’m home. Convention season is winding down – only 2 more to go in October, and I can finally settle back into my studio and do some serious, uninterrupted work. Kinda … with so many super cool projects and releases coming up it’s hard to concentrate on the daily art – only because it’s exciting!

.

First of all, for those who missed Fan Expo Toronto and Dragon Con, I’ve posted photos to Flickr!  There are lots of photos of cosplayers dressed as helmetgirls … and a Helmet boy!!! The two conventions were awesome. I swear Toronto felt like San Diego Comic Con!

Then Dragon Con, I was in artist alley along with SO MANY of the most amazing contemporary cool artists like Glenn Barr, The Beast Brothers, Joe Capobianco, Dan May, Greg Simkins, Jason Limon, Brian Despain, Bobby Chui, Travis Louie, Kathie Olivas, and Brandt Peters. The amount of talent in that room was breathtaking and inspiring!

I WILL BE BACK AT BOTH OF THOSE CONVENTIONS IN 2011.  In fact, we’re polling people right now to tell us which conventions you want me to be at in 2011. I can’t go to all of them personally, but I will have a booth at 15 or more cons.  All suggestions are welcome and you can answer here.

.

Also we are in the middle of moving/restructuring the online store.  I’m sorry for the delays in shipping out packages and thanks to those who have placed orders.  We’ll be contacting you individually when your package has been shipped.

With Fall here, we’ll be getting ready for winter and Christmas, which means new merchandise including hand-made JEWELRY … AND a new party in Vancouver.  More news soon, but please SAVE THE DATE for December 10th.  The party will be at The Ayden Gallery!  Special guest host: Buddha Kuro.

.

Lastly, we have tallied votes on the FINE ART PRINTS, and it was really close!  But in the end, the first print to come out will be Canadian Tiger.   This special launch will officially be September 30th (that’s my Bday so I thought it would make it even more special) and will kick off my fine art print releases.

Canadian Tiger

This is how it works:

Print Edition = 100

Size = 18 x 24 (image size 16 x 22)

Price = $100

Each print will be hand-signed and numbered and will come with a certificate of authenticity.

We are also looking at offering the prints pre-framed. If this is an option that interests anyone, please let me know! You can  reply to this blog post or write to me at cderricoinfo@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Help us decide!  We’ve conquered the paper, the inks, the printer, the sizes, the prices, the quantities and even put together a mailing list for the FINE ART PRINTS but … we can’t decide on which image to print first!

.

Do we go with IGUANA? A fan favorite, highly requested, and probably a long time coming and always timeless. Or, do we go with CANADIAN TIGER?  She’s more recent, my tribute to Canadian nature, and I know a lot of you loved the painting.

So what’s it all about? I wanted fans and collectors to share my art, and I wanted to add value to the art itself.  So in addition to the open ended prints of some of my older works, we’re now going to offer bigger, limited edition, signed and numbered, fine art paper prints of my new paintings, and each will come with a certificate of authenticity.  The plan is to release between 2 to 4 per year, based on input from collectors, fans, friends – you know how it goes -> we’ll ask you!  We’re looking into framing so if that’s something you’d like offered let us know!  We welcome all your comments, questions and suggestions! Please respond through the blog here or email us at cderricoinfo@gmail.com.  And don’t forget to sign up to the mailing list for fine art prints if you want to stay ahead of the news!

.

For now, let us know which of the two images you’d like to see as a large fine art print so we can make those available and find them homes!

5 Opens February 13th

Dear All,
The new group show, titled ‘5’, featuring Camilla d’Errico, Ben Tour, Lani Imre, Peter Taylor and The Dark opens On Saturday, February 13th, at Vancouver’s Ayden Gallery http://www.aydengallery.com/exhibitions_%26_events/current/.
All 5 artists will exhibit new works, and I’m pleased to share with you images of my key piece, Canadian Tiger.  The painting is 18×24 and the theme is Canadian Nature. Every animal in the painting is native to Canada and the colors, like the Canadian flag, are red and white.  My intention behind the painting was to express my fondness, love and pride of Canada, as my hometown of Vancouver gets ready to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
For information about the paintings or the show, please contact Ken Lum: info@aydengallery.com
Opening reception runs from 7 pm to 10 pm, with after party at The Melk.
The show runs until March 14th.
Let the games begin!
