Hand Painted No Ordinary Love Statue

AttemptedMurder_logos1sm

Hi guys! I’m Tasha, Camilla’s operations coordinator- her helper and executive llama extraordinaire. I get to share the cool news and projects Camilla works on here on the blog, and we’d like to share a Camilla project I’ve put together. I’ve hand-painted one of Camilla’s No Ordinary Love statues in a different colorway I’m calling “Attempted Murder”, patterned after Camilla’s painting “Aida”.

Aida_sm

I’ve repainted the statue from top to bottom in the new palette, with little sculpted mice and eggs in her hair. The original No Ordinary Love statues are Blue & White – even the white crows have blue tinting in them.

NOL Comparison 2

Camilla is an amazing artist and mentor, and it’s a pleasure to get to share how her work inspires the painting I do. This one-of-a-kind colourway will be with me at my Designer Con booth #911 in Pasadena this weekend, November 8-9 at the Pasadena Convention Center. ¬†If you’re in the area, swing by and say Hi!

If you haven’t collected your own No Ordinary Love statue yet, we have a few here on The Camilla Store. Does Camilla inspire you to make new artwork too? Show us at info@camilladerrico.com !

Thanks For A Great SDCC2013!

San Diego Comic Con was filled with fun, fans, friends and fabulous art! Thank you to everyone who came by the booth to visit, get books and prints (and toys!) signed, and find beautiful new prints and items to collect.

Good to see Camilla’s Burn make Comic Con and Tr!ckster’s Top Picks for 2013!

Camilla was in her booth for the most of the show signing, sketching and connecting with fans. Her Ian Somerhalder cardboard cutout, promoting The Beekeeper charity print fundraising project for Ian Somerhalder Foundation, was a big hit. Ian signed the cutout in endorsement at Warner Brother’s Vampire Diaries Signing on the SDCC show floor!

Prominent female cosplayers Meagan Marie and Lisa Lou Who attended Comic Con dressed as Camilla d’Errico paintings. Meagan cosplayed “The Heart” and Lisa cosplayed as “The Egg Thief”. This year we will be asking for your support in helping vote for Camilla’s No Ordinary Love Statue, and show how your Love of Camilla’s artwork is anything but Ordinary! When voting opens in the summer time we will announce it here and on our newsletter here. Or visit the Designer Toy Awards site directly here.

Camilla’s recent nomination is joined by our d’Errico Studios MegaLlama helper Tasha Zimich, who has been nominated in the Designer Toy Awards for Breakthrough Artist! We remember Tasha cut her teeth on painting designer vinyl with painting some of Camilla’s DIY Vinyl Kuro Toys. Tasha has kept painting toys, and has since participated in exhibitions and artist series regularly. Here’s a quick look at how far Tasha has come along from 2011 to now. Keep it up Tasha!

Holy custom Kuros, Batman!
We’ve spotted 2 incredible new custom vinyl Kuros by two incredible artists. Below in Blue is “Kagekuro-ling” by
Shadoe Delgado. Shadoe’s creatures, or Shadow-lings, feel perfectly at home on the Kuro platform with its mask and the sculptural feel of the form. Shadoe has one Kuro left to make into a Shadow-y little friend if you drop him a line at shadoedelgado.com

Look at this creepy little fellow! Cute, right? Creepy cute? That’s it, and that’s something artist Jason Jacenko of 696 Ink loves to imbue his custom painted toys with. How did he know Kuro was a Hello Kitty fan?

Calgary Expo Update & Pics

nancyprofile03-2010

Hey Everyone!

We had a great time this past weekend for Camilla’s first ever visit to Calgary. ¬†It was also our first appearance at Calgary Expo and we were treated very well as Special Guests – thanks so much to the organizers for inviting us. ¬†Check out our booth – can you see the handbags, charm bracelets, art cards, wallets, buttons, BURN graphic novel, etc. ?

Calgary 005

You can definitely see us from a distance which is very important when more than 10,000 people converge into one room ^_^ ¬†We had so much fun meeting so many great people. ¬†This little girl fell in love with Specter Plush and just had to have him… what a little sweetheart!

Calgary 012

Conventions are a lot of fun and it’s great to be able to take home your merchandise right away, but remember that you can always order online at http://camilla.bigcartel.com/.

That reminds me! ¬†We are almost at the end of April so that means you only have one more day to save on our Feature Print of the Month “Frenemies”. ¬†A lot of you LOVE this one and have ordered it. ¬†Did you notice it was also featured on the back cover of our journal?

journal

Wow – we had an awesome April! ¬†We rocked Wonder Con, Sakura Con and Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo and got to meet so many of you! ¬†We also helped make Bailey’s 21st birthday a little more special all the way over in Australia. ¬†Cheers to Bailey and family! And we sent out a ton of orders from our online store… to fans around the world. ¬†Thank you all for your love and support. ¬†I can’t wait to see what May brings our way!

Singapore Toy, Comic and Game Convention

Its time for an update! Since getting back from San Diego I’ve been madly, and I mean “like a madman” been drawing, painting, and preparing for the month ahead! ¬†First of all I finished the inks for the second issue of Sky Pirates of Neo Terra. I put so much detail into these pages I had to stop myself. ¬†I pulled all-nighters, going to bed at 7 am only to be woken up by Fedex at 8:00 …

Sigh … but they were dropping off cool stuff, including more wallets and coin purses!!! Yes, that’s right! I’m bringing a bunch with me to Singapore for the convention.

I tell ya, this convention is going to rock! For the first time in my life I have a booth – a big one! 10 x 10 ft! ¬†Woohoo! So I got to design some smokin’ walls for it, and my display is going to be a ton of fun, and somewhat like a canvas … I’m going to paint and draw all over my display stands during the convention :).

I also designed two new Tanpopo themed posters, since my entire theme is Tanpopo and its launch in Asia. ¬†I’m also officially launching Specter Kuro! My little white devil from the second Tanpopo book!

p72359231

I’ll have lots and lots of Tanpopo merchandise, including more of the Tanpopo clothing, Tanpopo Volume 1 and 2, and even promotional fans! I can’t wait to see them in person ^__^

And I have a cool cat booth neighbour too – Toysrevil! That’s right. I’m at the corner booth C14 and they are C16. Andy did a wicked interview with tons and tons of pics, so check it out and sign up because these guys totally know where its at when it comes to toys! ¬†We’re really close to Walk of Fame and we’re going to be doing some live painting, I tell ya! Oh memories of Taipei ^_^

After the convention I’m off to Tokyo! Yay some vacation! ¬†Hence (love using these old words!) I’ll be back at the end of August. Just in time to put the finishing touches on my paintings and prep for the Thinkspace Show!

I’ll try to update random pictures to Facebook, or send stuff to get posted around the ‘Net. Yup, I’ve got some help now! Woohoo! This means you’ll be seeing lots more pictures, content, stories, updates, etc. about all that I’m up to, will be up to and more. ¬†So keep up with me because the rest of the summer and the rest of the year are going to be a fun filled ride!

Star Wars and the Empire Muggs Back

Some people have already seen the Star Wars Mighty Muggs before and a bunch of people saw the customs that were on display at the Star Wars booth in San Diego! ¬†Mine was one of them — Oola! ¬†She was Jabba the Hut’s dancing slave girl. ¬†More pics from San Diego are on the Star Wars Flickr site.

I customized the Mugg as part of The Empire Muggs Back show and charity auction. The auction is online NOW! So if you want a chance at my Mugg or any of the other amazing interpretations, this is where to go.  Proceeds are going to the Make a Wish Foundation.

As for me, I’m getting ready for the next convention! I’ll have more news on that soon, by the weekend. Thanks for the support, as always, and whoever does pick up my Oola — be good to her. She deserves a good home.
